South Wilts Archery Club is based in Salisbury and covers South Wiltshire and the surrounding area. It is one of the oldest clubs in the country having been founded in
1859 and offers target, field, clout and wand archery. We have approximately 200 members shooting a range of bow styles from the high-tech Compound to the traditional English Longbow.

South Wilts Archery Club are pleased to release four beginners courses during the 2025 summer.
The May, July and August courses will be held over four separate Saturdays
The June course will be held over two weekends (Sat & Sun). Because of the intensive nature the course is limited to adult applications.

South Wilts Archery Club (SWAC) beginners’ course is designed to teach the basic styles of recurve archery to those keen to try the sport. All equipment is supplied for the course
Course structure - The courses are structured over four 2:30-hour sessions covering safety, equipment assembly and shooting techniques.
Session 1 - Safety, equipment, shooting barebow (without sights)
Session 2 - Refinement of technique and accuracy.
Session 3 - Introduction to shooting a bow with sights
Session 4 - Shooting the style of your choice and a guide to buying equipment
Instruction - The instruction is provided by Archery GB and NFAS coaches and club instructors all experienced archers in their own right and in many different archery disciplines
