South Wilts Archery Club is based in Salisbury and covers South Wiltshire and the surrounding area. It is one of the oldest clubs in the country having been founded in
1859 and offers target, field, clout and wand archery. We have approximately 200 members shooting a range of bow styles from the high-tech Compound to the traditional English Longbow.

South Wilts Archery Club (SWAC) beginners’ course is designed to teach the basic styles of recurve archery to those keen to try the sport. All equipment is supplied for the course.
Course structure - The courses are structured over four 2:30-hour sessions covering safety, equipment assembly and shooting techniques.
Session 1 - Safety, equipment, shooting barebow (without sights)
Session 2 - Refinement of technique and accuracy.
Session 3 - Introduction to shooting a bow with sights
Session 4 - Shooting the style of your choice and a guide to buying equipment
Instruction - The instruction is provided by Archery GB and NFAS coaches and club instructors all experienced archers in their own right and in many different archery disciplines
Venue - Trafalgar School, Downton.
Beginners’ courses
(You must be able to attend each day of the course)
Course 1 - £70 per person
Saturday March 23rd - 09:45-12:15
Saturday March 30th - 09:45-12:15
Saturday April 6th - 09:45-12:15
Saturday April 13th - 09:45-12:15
Start time - please arrive 15mins earlier to ensure a prompt start.

Juniors
Minimum age - 11 years old
Juniors (under 18) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for each day of the course and we encourage them to shoot as well.
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR JUNIOR PLACES. Due to the number of junior bows we have we can only accommodate a maximum of 2 juniors on each course. If requesting a junior place please state their age when emailing.
